Derrick Jones was one of the most highly sought-after recruits in the class of 2015. He was ranked the 45th-best prospect in the country on 247 Sports, held offers from 18 schools, and was lauded for his insane athleticism.
Thanks to these two videos, we get a chance to see that the praise the Pennsylvania native – who ended up choosing UNLV over schools like Arizona, Kansas, and Kentucky – received for his athleticism was warranted. In the first video, Jones busts out a pair of dunks that would absolutely win any NBA dunk contest. First, he throws the ball ahead of him, jumps from the free throw line, gets the ball in mid-air and throws down the easiest looking windmill that you’ll ever see. He then one-ups himself by doing the same thing, only instead of doing a windmill, he goes between his legs, which doesn’t seem like it should be possible – especially because he jumps off of two feet.
In the other video, Jones runs up to the free throw line and throws down a one-handed windmill, which is extra impressive, because the video is mostly in slow motion. Check it out:
Odds are we’ll never see Jones bust out anything like any of these dunks in a live game, but hopefully we’ll get the opportunity see something similar on the contest stage, because these slams are spectacular.
